THE DESCRIPTORS – DANCE
75 – 77 or FAIR – A performance limited in its communication
78 – 80 or MODERATE – A performance showing development of technique and/or communication
81 – 83 or MERIT – A capable performance showing some artistic appreciation and/or technical ability
84 – 86 or COMMENDED – A convincing performance technically and artistically
87 – 89 or DISTINCTION – An excellent performance technically and artistically
90+ or OUTSTANDING – An exceptional performance, both technically and artistically
Each band of marks/categories has not only the descriptor note above but also one line of criteria which is descriptive but not prescriptive.
THE CRITERIA – DANCE
These are the criteria to be used at Federation festivals by Federation Dance Adjudicators when giving marks or categories.
FAIR or 75 – 77 – A performance with an overall need for artistic development.
MODERATE or 78 – 80 – A performance showing adequate technique. Musicality and expression require further development.
MERIT or 81 – 83 – A performance generally accurate in technique with some expression and musicality.
COMMENDED or 84 – 86 – A performance showing secure technique with good musical and expressive qualities.
DISTINCTION or 87 – 89 – A convincing and controlled technical performance with animation, musicality and confidence.
OUTSTANDING or 90+ – A seemingly effortless performance of accomplished technique with impressive musicality and dynamic communication/projection.
